The contemporary women’s designer visited Chicago last week to host a trunk show at Krista K boutique, 3458 N. Southport, and premier pieces from her new line: Jodi Arnold. “In the Mint line you can always find the perfect date top, but I’m getting older and I veer toward the looser, tunic-y type stuff,” says Arnold.

Pink is fashion s shade for all seasons

Muslim women win pool clothing case

The Court of Appeal in Western Sweden, overruling an earlier lower court decision, ordered Goteborg to pay each woman 20,000 kronor and legal costs for discriminating against them. The women dressed in headscarves, sweatpants and long-sleeved T-shirts accompanied their children to the public pool on two separate occasions in April 2004 but were asked to leave after refusing to change their clothes.

An institute here is documenting it all to give the country a sense of its contemporary fashion history. We don t have a history as yet. Our design industry is not very old and more so we don t find any fashion historians in our country, said Nien Siao, head of department, Fashion Design, at the Pearl Academy of Fashion.

Designers dish about the designer reality show Friday, Feb 29, 2008

Responded: Via e-mail after a trip to Paris. The show: The challenge given to designers on the TV show is for them to make one garment for a specific client and purpose within a short period of time. . . . It is a custom or ‘couture’ approach. In my business, we are designing a product that we will, hopefully, sell thousands of pieces of, so our approach is much more commercial. I like to say that we have to sell it twice.

Bride to be who’s lost 6st to fit into her dress

A DONCASTER bride-to-be has lost SIX STONES and dropped four dress sizes in just five months so she can walk up the aisle in her dream wedding dress. Determined Keepmoat Stadium finance assistant Corinne Johnson promised herself in October she would fit into the sparkly size 14 wedding dress she longs to wear at her May wedding, despite being a size 22 at the time.

RCMP seize 4,500 counterfeit hair irons, fashion accessories, in swoop

Published Tuesday January 29th, 2008 MONTREAL - Most people think of money and DVDs when they think of counterfeits. But hair irons? RCMP in the Quebec City region announced Tuesday they have seized 4,500 of the counterfeit devices. Cpl. Richard Faucher acknowledged hair-straightening irons aren t the usual fakes seen by the federal force. “But we have to keep in mind that everything can be counterfeit,” he said in a telephone interview.
