French Fashion University Esmod forges partnership with Walid Atallah

(MENAFN) The Director of the French Fashion University Esmond announced that the university has partnered with Walid Atallah which is one of the Middle East’s leading fashion designers, a press release reported. He went on to say that the French Fashion University Esmod has started several fashion trends in the UAE and has recently produced an award-winning fashion designer. The measure plans to find talented youth across the Middle East and boost their confidence by showcasing their work.

Three questions with fashion guru Tim Gunn

Tim Gunn, the soft-spoken, genteel mentor on Bravo’s “Project Runway,” arrived Thursday to a snowy Kansas City. Gunn, who has a new book and hosts the new show “Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style,” is now an executive with the Liz Claiborne Company. He appeared at an evening runway fashion show featuring the Liz Claiborne holiday collection at Dillard’s in Oak Park Mall in Overland Park. Star Fashion Editor Jackie White caught up with him before the show.

Designer makes eco-friendly kid clothes

Ricky Martin sang of living la vida loca, and Sandra Finkelstein has made a business out of living la vida pura. Finkelstein, 45, is founder and owner of Pura Vida nyc, a children’s clothing business that combines kids fashions with environmentalism. The line, which launched in August 2005 and is now in its fifth season, uses organic cotton and eco-friendly, sustainable fibers like bamboo and hemp that require little if any pesticide.

EziBuy buys Max Fashion

Privately held homeware and clothing multi-channel retailer EziBuy has acquired women’s clothing retailer Max for an unknown sum. Australasia’s biggest apparel and home decor catalogue company said the purchase of Max is part of its growth strategy, which has so far included the opening of retail stores throughout New Zealand and the acquisition of corporate clothing company Profile Ltd. It also owns a half stake in kidswear retailer Just Kids.

Historical Galata hosts four-day fashion festival

Designers will set up stands around the historical Galata Tower, where fashion lovers will be able to purchase designer articles ranging from 50-400 YTL in price. At a press conference, Beyoрlu Mayor Ahmet Misbah Demircan said the festival would become an annual tradition. The municipality wants to turn Galata into a fashion quarter without disturbing its historical atmosphere, Demircan said.

We’re in the thick of Art Basel, and rubbing elbows with the painters, sculptors and architects are fashion types big and small. Conventional wisdom says that international millionaires in a good mood will want to hang something new on their bodies as much as on their walls. So while one spouse is shopping art installations like giant udders, the other can see what skirts designer Matthew Williamson has in store for Pucci, come spring.
