The Symphony Spring Fashion Show, hosted by the Nashville Symphony Orchestra League, begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction, highlighted by jewelry from leading designer H.Stern. The fashion show kicks off at 7:15 p.m. in the Symphony Center s Laura Turner Concert Hall with an elegant dinner following at 8 p.m. Holly Anderson Wilds and Jana Joustra Davis are Chairmen of the event.

Bachmeier estimates that she and her classmates have worked more than 100 hours on their costumes. Bachmeier said she hopes people will attend the show just to be able to see the unique clothing. Fashion shows in Italy and France always showcase the newest trends.

Tickets are selling like hot cakes for the Annual Cameo Fashion Show at the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh, which takes place on November 29. The proceeds from this years’ show will go to North Tipperary Disability Support Services (N.T.D.S.S.) with the funds being distributed locally. November 22, 2007: Speaking at a recent fashion event, one of the leading South African designers, Sonwabile Ndamase, the creator of the Madiba shirts, called on Kenyan professional designers to participate more in industry shows to be exposed to potential buyers. But Kenya has no such seasons or fashion weeks, which has left many designers at a loss.

In the days of blithe racial assumptions, flesh crayons were the color of white people. Invisible makeup and nude pantyhose were colored in the hues of Caucasian skin. Nowadays the cultural landscape is well populated with actors, musicians, media moguls and candidates for the American presidency drawn from the 30 percent of the American population that is not white. Yet, if there is one area where the lessons of chromatic and racial diversity have gone largely unheeded, it is fashion.

Nenagh NotesJohn Duddy’s visit to Tanzania This past summer saw Portumna student John Duddy visit Makiungu Hospital in Tanzania as a member of the UCC Surgeon Noonan Society. A charity run by 4th year medical students, Surgeon Noonan raised money for hospitals in African countries such as Tanzania, Kenya, Malawi, Ghana and Zambia. Accompanied by fellow students, John brought much needed monetary aid and medical supplies to Makiungu.
