Lauren lauded, model scandal and game show, washable suit

Also this year, Lauren won both Menswear Designer of the Year and the Legend Award from the all-powerful Council of Fashion Designers of America. This, after celebrating his 40th anniversary with a splashy show and dinner party in Central Park’s Conservatory Garden during last month’s spring fashion week with the likes of Barbara Walters, Robert DeNiro, Dustin Hoffman, Martha Stewart, Diane Sawyer and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Garmex students impress at first fashion show

Thorpe explained that although she and the other students had been preparing for the show since the start of the course, they went into full preparation mode three months ago when they started sketching the designs. Although the audience expressed interest in many of the pieces, many of the designers opted not to sell. “For a lot of us it was our first fashion show, so the pieces were basically keepsakes, but if people wanted anything like that, then we would do it for them,” Thorpe said.

Jarrah Al-Assaf, one of Kuwait’s first male models

One year back, Al-Assaf realized that he could turn his dream of modeling into a reality. He received his first offer for ‘Thouq’ Magazine, which is a specialized magazine of Italian fashion brands. “I was looking to work in this field so I contacted them and we started working together. During Ramadan, I also shot photos for the same magazine for different international brands. This magazine will be in the market by November 1.

Lubbock shop shows latest fashions to Ladies of the Petrolem Club

A talk by Dr. Will Morris from Midland College opened the season for the University Graduate Women of Midland last month. Dr. Morris is dean of social and behavioral science and education, director of the honors program and professor of history. A salad luncheon in the Jack E. Brown Dining Hall on the campus preceded his presentation.

Saks Fifth Avenue’s Viva la Cure and Boss Black Fashion Show and Dinner

Downtown, at another city landmark, the Cunard Building, Hugo Boss put on a Boss Black Spring fashion show, as well as an after-party complete with eighties-disco neon lights and smoke machines. Most of the editors in attendance, still recovering from Milan and Paris, cleared out after creative director Ingo Wilts took his bow, but celebrity guests Kate Winslet , Julianne Moore , and Maggie Gyllenhaal lingered over Champagne in the lounge to hear a set by Woody Allen and his jazz band.

Anorexia caused a stir in Italy last week when a photograph of a naked anorexic woman appeared in newspapers and on billboards to highlight the effects of the illness, news reports said.

Runway Racism Clouds Paris Fashion Shows

It’s only a slight consolation that others in the industry, such as models from the Maghreb region, are even worse off. An Arab friend of hers decided to go back to school after three years of modeling because she couldn’t find any work. “She really tried everything,” Tiguida said. “She could work abroad, but her family doesn’t want to let her go.
