Nationwide Trafficker of Counterfeit Clothing Sentenced to 57 Months in Prison

Chouman operated a wholesale clothing business in New York City that sold more than $7 million in counterfeit clothing. The business, known by various names including: Gizmo Wear Inc., Tea Shirt Inc., T Shirt International Inc., and Jump Wear, offered clothing bearing counterfeit marks at a substantial discount from prices charged for legitimate clothing. Buyers could purchase counterfeit clothing in person at the New York store or by telephone, receiving shipment by UPS.

Clothing store to be recast

Look Out Casual Clothes is closing its last store — the holdout in Chapel Hill’s Village Plaza on Elliot Road. The company, which started in 1991, began on Ninth Street in Durham, selling discounted name brands. There once were stores in Durham, Carrboro, Chapel Hill and Raleigh. The discount clothing business is challenging because of the proliferation of stores such as Target, said owner Shawn Slome. “There’s a lot of cheap clothes out there now,” he said.

Resale Shop offers half-price clothing

Times Staff Report SOUTH HAVEN | The newly reopened Portage Resale Shop is offering clothing at half-price through the month of November. Manager Michele Farmer said that since the shop reopened its doors last month it has received an abundance of donations that have filled the racks and storage area. To help move the clothing, she said, they’ve decided to offer it at half price. That includes men’s, women’s and children’s clothing.

So, there were the hippies in the 60s, disco in 70s, madonna in 80s and many other clothing styles. Then, in the early 80s appeared a new clothing style. Hip Hop clothing was considered new and cool, but it took almost 20 years for the mainstream fashion to accept the new style.

Quirky gifts and quirky ales

For this week’s selections, I have picked two long-time favorites and one shop I recently discovered. Remember, it’s all about finding what big ol’ Philly has to offer. 1A Philly favorite of mine is the bar and club Transit. I have been there three times, spending the last two New Year’s Eves there for the holiday edition of the “Making Time” party and visiting once for the regular Making Time. Making Time, in its seventh year, is an event offered one Friday a month.

Bathrobed shoplifter steals clothes in Linden by Robert E. Misseck

The suspects were arrested just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday on northbound Routes 1&9, where a patrol unit had stopped the car in which they had fled the scene, according to Lt. Raymond Tyra. He said officers responding to a report of a fight outside Marshalls in the in Aviation Plaza shopping center found a female security guard with her clothing torn. The 24-year-old victim told police she had observed a woman trying to leave the store after stuffing items of clothing under her robe.
