Windows on spring Fashion comes alive for season with bold colors and designs
Spring fashion isn’t going to disappoint, either. “I think women are so sick of winter,” said Karen Marquis , owner of Kokopelli in Northpark Mall. “We’ve had a lot of people in buying for vacations and weddings, and I think they’re ready for spring.” Spring clothes come alive in vivid colors such as Kelly green, yellow, tangerine and cobalt blue, fuchsia and bold prints that swing from floral to global and geometric to art-inspired.
Even neutral dresses and separates in navy, black, white and khaki get a kick start when paired with pops of color in handbags, shoes and belts, said Sarah Francis , owner of Trilogy in Northpark Mall. It’s a great way to add color for women who don’t want to wear it head to toe, she said. While vivid color and bold prints at times seem to overpower other ideas, choices reign for the new season.
Spring offers a wide spectrum to please everyone from the urban sophisticate to the hippie ingenue, the gal on safari and the lady channeling her inner sailor, said Kristin Homsey , co-owner of Gretta Sloane in Nichols Hills Plaza. Along with color and prints, other trends are fuller skirts, nautical touches, sheer and gauzy fabrics, high-waisted pants and safari jackets. Metallic and patent continue to shine.
If there is one key dressing piece to focus on this season, Homsey said, it is the dress — probably long and more than likely printed. But don’t neglect the waist, she warned. “Maternity dressing of last year is thankfully over, unless you are pregnant, so … wear these longer, more dramatic pieces with a nipped-in waist.” Homsey said floor-skimming dresses and billowy tunics pop in bright colors and florals to capture the bohemian spirit.
