Fashion Week is bringing style to Medina
Turning Medina into an area that fashionistas flock to may not be difficult with a number of shows on the agenda in the coming week. Fashion Week, being promoted as a triathalon of style, was set to begin Tuesday evening with a small show at the Garden View Bed & Breakfast in Medina but was canceled due to low ticket sales. That s not stopping organizers Angela Waldriff, owner of Ashlee s Place on East Center Street, and marketing manager Tiffany Lampe though.
The three additional shows will go on as planned, with a large two-show extravaganza set for Sunday at the Sacred Heart Club on Gravel Road and a small show on the docket for Tuesday at the B&B. I ve always had that dream that we could be the rural fashion capital, Lampe said. We ve been dreaming about this for so long and now is the time. Lampe said that this week, many new trends will be on display throughout European countries known for high fashion, because it is fashion week abroad, as well.
If we can do this New York City-style, it s lights, it s music there s no commentary, Lampe said. Waldriff, who has been in business since 1991, said fashion is more than clothes. For me, fashion is a means of expression, it is my passion, she said. I hope to show women that no matter who you are, what you do, or where you live, you can dress well and feel great about yourself just by sprucing up your wardrobe every now and then, or adding a unique accessory.
Models will sashay throughout the club and the rooms at Garden View Bed & Breakfast, showing the latest trends hitting the streets. Those attending Sunday s event can browse the center court for gifts and sales from local businesses. We re a small town and I think that this is certainly a great opportunity for shopping … especially the one on Sunday where there will be more vendors involved, said Pat Fox, who owns Garden View. This is the first time we ve done the fashion show here.
