New ‘reportage’ wedding photo service from renowned freelancer
A highly respected freelance photographer is to start a new wedding photography service with a twist. Mike Maloney, who once photographed Princess Diana in her wedding dress and who has an OBE, has teamed up with Martin Czimmerl of Kodak Express in Lincoln to offer the service, the Lincolnshire Echo reports. It will be a service tailored to suit each couple, and Mr Maloney will use his experience as a freelance press photographer to add a reportage-style twist to the images.
He was born and bred in Lincoln and considers it the finest place in the world . Mike was formerly the chief photographer at the Mirror Group, and went freelance in 2002. He has taken pictures of famous figures including Frank Sinatra, Ronald Regan and Princess Grace of Monaco, but it was meeting Princess Di that made the greatest impression. I got to know the Princess well and even had tea with her before her engagement, he said.
On that wonderful day in 1981 I was invited to photograph her with her father, Earl Spencer, before they left Clarence House for St Paul’s. I saw the wedding dress even before other members of the Royal Family, including Prince Charles. She was a dream to work with and so photogenic.
