Season’s fashion trends include cashmere, satin and animal skin

A parallel trend calls for men to bedeck their bodies with brown, Walch says. “Men, of course, traditionally like blue so this is a tremendous departure for them.” No matter the color, there are lots of fabulous fashion choices for both sexes. Glance through the pages of the fashion glossies, and you’ll be bombarded with models flaunting equestrian boots, cashmere sweaters, wool coats, and lots of items dipped in gray.

Here’s a look at the top trends: Male-inspired Crisp tuxedo blouses, wide and narrow trousers, coat dresses and fitted jackets: The hard edges of traditional menswear meet the softer side of women’s curves with this season’s professionally posh silhouettes. Wool, tweed, cashmere or leather are good bets and a vest is the perfect representation of this classy style. Layer over one of your favorite shirts (fellas) or blouses (ladies) or even a plain white T-shirt.

You can also try it over a long-sleeve satin blouse or neat collared shirt. If you want to go head to toe, pair with wide-leg trousers or jeans. Try: Lux vest, $48 at an Urban Outfitters near you or www.urbanoutfitters.com . Sweaters The ritual of moving the wonderful winter sweaters from the back to the front of the closet always warms the fashionista’s heart. Every year, designers unleash a fresh crop of extra cozy, curl-up-with-your-hot-chocolate sweaters.

So bundle up in a cashmere sweater for an evening movie this time of year. A knit sweater with short sleeves is just the right adaptation. Layer over a strapless or sleeveless dress, secure with a belt and you have become fall friendly. Try: Kimchi & Blue yellow sweater, $62 at Urban Outfit-ters, www.urbanoutfitters.com or a cable-knit trim sweater from Old Navy at www.oldnavy.com .
