Greeks help community through clothing drive
Do you ever look in your closet and wonder how you will fit one more thing in there? Do you just look in there and wonder where half those clothes came from and when you wore them last? There is a solution for these problems: clean out your closet and donate the clothes you do not wear anymore to the Greek Council clothes drive, “Greeks for the People.” The drive is going on now through Feb. 15, and there are many drop-off boxes around campus.
People like to help out anyway they can and sometimes there are not enough hours in the day to do as much as they would like. But with the clothing drive, all you need to do is gather up any items you wish to donate, put them in a bag and drop them off in any of the boxes around campus. This takes hardly any effort or time. Any donation is greatly appreciated, whether it’s one shirt or twenty.
“I think this is a great way to help out those in need,” said Desternie Richmond, senior public administration major. The Greek Council has members from different fraternity and sorority organizations who work together to build the greek community at Henderson. The clothing drive is just one of many projects that will take place this semester. “I am just glad that all the greeks are getting together to help out the community,” said Beth Graham, senior English major.
“I hope that this shows Henderson that the greeks on campus aren’t just about parties and rush - that it is also about helping other people that are less fortunate,” said Lauren Larey, senior communication major. A lot of the different drives done around campus help the Arkadelphia area and make the school and city a better place to call home. The drive will help families around the Arkadelphia area who are in need of clothes for numerous reasons.
