That s entertainment is a box office hit for firm! Oct 17 2007 By Lynda Nicol
The firm s extensive licence list already includes a number of leading brands such as Manchester United Football Club, Celtic and Rangers football clubs, Tracey Beaker, Me to You and Forever Friends. PMD currently sells its products, which include its range of fashion accessories including charms for mobile phones and bespoke cases for MP3 players, through a range of high street outlets.
These outlets include some of the biggest retain names on the high street such as Carphone Warehouse, T Mobile, Virgin Mobile, JJB Sports, Play.com, New Look, Claire s Accessories and Borders. The funding from UKSE, the Corus subsidiary tasked with economic regeneration, will also help PMD improve its distribution channels and expand its product range throughout the country.
Tony Ianniello, managing director of PMD, said: I first got the idea for the company when I took a trip to Dubai and saw how popular these charms and accessories were with the people. When I got back to Scotland I started doing some research and discovered that there were no UK-based companies licensing mobile and MP3 accessories. Since our launch last year we ve gone from strength-to-strength.
There really is a huge demand for our products which is hardly surprising when you consider there are tens of millions of mobile phone users in the UK alone, and the attraction of personalising your handset with a charm or other trendy fashion accessory is now very appealing to people.
