Venus Williams Scores Big With New Clothing Line
Ashley Dickson - Celebrity News Service News Writer New York, NY (CNS) - As if it wasn’t enough to be the reigning Wimbledon tennis champion, Venus Williams has another venture that is about to score big, her new clothing line “EleVen” with retailers Steve Barry.
The 27-year old tennis superstar is getting ready to graduate in fashion design from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale this December, and has taken inspiration from the world of fashion as well as the world of sports in designing her new collection. “I love fashion and the idea that I am using my design education to actually create clothing and footwear that I will wear on and off the tennis court is a dream come true for me,” Williams said.
“The vision has been to create a collection that will allow women to enjoy an active lifestyle while remaining fashionable at the same time. I’m thrilled with everything we’ve created to launch EleVen.” The new collection features long sleeve logo t-shirts, track suits, shorts, sports bras, sunglasses, visors and other outwear all priced for under $20. Steve Barry’s started in Philadelphia in 1985 and aims to provide quality sportswear that rivals Wal-Mart and Target’s low prices.
Venus made an appearance at a Manhattan Steve Barry’s to celebrate the launch of the new line this Thursday and will continue on a 10-day promotional tour across the country ending in Los Angeles on November 25. Steve Barry’s have done similar celebrity clothing lines including a Sarah Jessica Parker collection called “Bitten” and a line by actress Amanda Bynes.
