Church looks back at 50 years of weddings through bridal fashion

Church looks back at 50 years of weddings through bridal fashion DANVERS To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church building, its members organized a wedding fashion show Saturday afternoon in the Fellowship Hall. The fashion show featured 50 years of weddings by featuring dresses worn by brides, their attendants and their mothers over the years at the church.

The idea behind the fashion show was “to celebrate the idea that a lot of people got married in the church,” said June Guidara, the church’s publicist. The church has collected bridal dresses of people married at the church, and young women modeled the dresses. The show featured the wedding dress of the first woman to be married in the church, Cynthia Hawkes Meehan, Guidara said. Meehan is well-known in town as chairwoman of the Danvers Diversity Committee, among other activities.

Photos of weddings at the church were also on display.
