Steps on taking winter fashion to the next level
Media Credit: MCT Campus Be the center of attention at the holiday party by wearing a simple classic tunic dress. During the holidays, we are overwhelmed by the variety of trends and styles plaguing popular department stores. Therefore, we hunted for the latest fashion secrets that are all the rage for this hectic holiday season. This season is about bringing back classic lines with a new modern edge.
Think Jackie Kennedy Onassis and Audrey Hepburn’s elegance meets strong, bold colors and patterns. Ditch the somber colors associated with winter and dare to pair crimson reds and mustard yellows with classic black. Layering is still in style, but it must be put together in a more methodical manner. Trade in the oversized, boho-style apparel for a chic, crisp, straight-lined ensemble.
To endure the cold, we all need a fashionable yet functional coat; nothing says chic straight lines better than a classic peacoat. Longer peacoats in rich colors such as vibrant green, scarlet red, majestic purple, plaid, and of course traditional black, should be your priority purchase for this season. For a timeless piece go with a gray or cream color capelet, often described as a short jacket/cape combo. Look for pieces with large vintage buttons that add personal style.
With all of the upcoming holiday parties, you’re bound to need a dress or two (or six). When looking for that perfect dress, keep in mind: Contain yourself and stay away from the scandalous sections of the stores we all know too well (Forever 21, Charlotte Russe). Instead, put on a short, sexy dress with a high swoop cut neckline.
